USAP Statement on Tyre Nichols

USA Prides

The images of Tyre Nichols' life needlessly cut short are horrifying. We are outraged by the deadly beating Tyre Nichols received from five Memphis police officers. We condemn the inhumane treatment of another human being. As anti-racists, we condemn racism in all of its forms, including systemic racism.

We join hands and think of the Nichols family and friends and share the pain being felt. As human beings let’s remain committed to working toward solutions to the systemic and excessive force reality we continue to face. Let’s work to understand the impact these acts have on the African diaspora. Let’s support each other and respect how everyone is coping.

As the United States Association of Prides, we are committed to anti-racism and social justice and are holding space in remembrance of Mr. Nichols and his family. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Nichols family.
